Sanlucar de Barrameda is not known to many foreign tourists. The Spanish have kept this charming town for themselves to have a relaxing vacation. This typically Andalucian town is known for its fresh Langostinos, sherry whines, gastronomy, flamenco, the national park Doñana, various religious festivities and its car-free shopping centre.
Andalucia has much to offer. In our personal trips to the region, we have always chosen to hire a car as it is simply the best way to get around and travel between cities.
At 30 km (or less than 20 miles) you will find Jerez de la Frontera known for its sherry whines and the royal horse riding school. Further at about 100 km (60 miles) you will find Seville, Ronda, Ubrique, which is known for its leather, Arcos, Vejer de la Frontera, the marvellous Setenil de las Bodegas and Tarifa (not so far from Gibraltar) which is famous for its orca whale tours. At 3 hours driving from Sanlucar de Barrameda, you will find the popular Cordoba, Malaga, Marbella and a place we have yet to discover: Antequera with its nature reserve El Torcal de Antequera and its burial mound The Dolmen of Menga.
